Not everyone sees furniture making the way the Amish do.
Some regard it as art, to be admired and never used, and to others it's simply
to be used. To the Amish, furniture making is a practical art, admired for its beauty, but
lived on for generations.
Furniture making is not what it used to be. These times have
changed, but, not among the Amish. Without the use of outside power
sources, this furniture is created from carefully selected Pennsylvania Oak of
Northern Red and Cherry, considered to be the strongest oak in
The Beauty of solid hardwood is more than "skin
deep". Neither synthetic nor engineered, it comes from nature-a simple,
reliable and renewable source. Our solid hardwood bedrooms are made up of many pieces of wood. Each is
unique and you may notice natural variations in color. The lighter pieces
were closer to the tree's center. All are equally strong and impart the
beauty and value that make solid hardwood second to none. The trees main story
is written in its unique grain pattern. Grain patterns are made by the
tree's growth rings-one for each year. Each board has its own story, its
own unique grain patterns and textures. Trees grow limbs, which fall to the
forest floor as the tree matures. What remains are knots in the
wood. Each time you see a knot on a hardwood surface, you'll know a tree
limb once grew from that spot. These natural markings have absolutely no
effect on the wood's durability and structural integrity. Knots and other
characteristics are much like the nubs you find in such fine natural fabrics as
silk and linen; they are indications of genuine quality.

Color variations are a standard trademark of
hardwoods. The outside or younger wood is lighter than the inside core
where the wood is usually darker. The durability and integrity of our hardwood furniture is not affected by these
naturally occurring variations, in fact, these variations are exactly what most
people want, giving them the warmth and charm of individuality. Trees absorb
minerals and other essentials as they grow and prosper. You may see their
traces in our furniture. These natural characteristics let you know you are
enjoying the authentic item, and not artificial wood imitation.

QUALITY OF OUR WOOD - We use only the best quality of Northern U.S. hardwoods that are kiln dried to assure proper moisture content to prevent splitting and cracking. To maintain this proper moisture content, your home needs to maintain a level of humidity around 35%.
THREE STEP SANDING PROCESS - The first step involves a belt type sander and removes all planer marks. The second step, started immediately before the staining process, is done with a hand held, air-powered sander in which the craftsman uses his free hand to feel the wood's smoothness. To ensure a smooth finish, the third sanding is done by hand with sandpaper, after the sealer has been applied.
QUALITY FINISH - All our stains are hand applied, and then we spray the sealer and catalyzed varnish to assure a smooth and even finish. Each piece is resistant to water, nail polish remover and alcohol, so that it is appropriate for everyday use.
QUALITY DRAWER CONSTRUCTION - To ensure that your drawer will maintain it's shape for generations, our drawers feature dovetail joints on both front and back. Each drawer is made of either Oak or Maple and is finished all around so that fine clothing will never be snagged by a rough edge. There are smooth-riding slides on each side of all of our drawers, which are guaranteed for life. The depth of the drawers in all of our pieces reaches the full depth of the cabinet and thus giving you more storage space.
QUALITY DOOR CONSTRUCTION - All of our raised or flat panel doors consist of a five piece construction with a true solid wood panel. Flush fitting with graceful cambers, these solid hardwood doors are constructed to work - day in and day out.
